Refund Types

Refund types are linked with students; they create categories for all who differ in terms of their refund policy (e.g., “first-time freshmen” as opposed to “continuing students”). Designating the Refund Type in a Student Status record tells CAMS which policy to apply. Students possess a status record for each registered term and thus these refund type values are term specific. Upon dropping courses or withdrawing from school, CAMS matches the registration term to the status term to obtain the appropriate value.

The refund definition is laid out in Refund Groups.

To assign a refund type:

  1. Access the Student Status window through the Admissions module (Admissions >Students >Student Status) or while in the registration form (See Student Status and Registration).
  2. Select a value for Refund Type. Refund Type, along with Campus and Cost Type are critical in calculating tuition and refunds at time of registration. Without proper entries in these fields, a student could be charged incorrectly.
