Course schedules can be assigned in either the traditional manner or by utilizing a flexible format. While standard scheduling typically follows the structure of same days/times each week, it may be necessary in some cases to schedule course times, classrooms, and faculty for different days each week, with varying times, and possibly different instructors for each of those sessions. See Flexible Course Schedule for more detail on this scheduling format. The Time Slot feature may be used to speed data entry. Instead of pursuing step 5, select the appropriate time slot and the offer days, start time, and end time are automatically populated. Time Slots are created and maintained in Registration >Offering >Setup >Time Slot Reference.
To define the class schedule:
Note: If the Maximum Occupancy of the room (set in the Rooms reference table) assigned to the Course is less than the Maximum Enrollment value of the course then a warning message displays allowing you to cancel the assignment or to override the warning. If either the room’s capacity is zero or the course’s maximum enrollment value is zero, then CAMS assumes an unlimited seating and the warning is not displayed.
Internet Courses
Some Internet courses do not have set days and times that they meet but they still have an instructor assigned. They are available 24/7 for students to access and complete course work. To facilitate this no-schedule feature the registrar can select the Remove Schedule\Faculty checking option. This will allow the registrar to add a faculty assignment without having to add a course schedule.
This will automatically assign N/A to the Days and 12:00 to the Start and End Time fields. Current reports will display N/A when they see times set to 12:00 AM.
