Tuition Refunds

Tuition refunds, or credits, are assessed when a student drops a course or withdraws from your institution. Three key elements to ensuring an accurate calculation are 1) Refund Groups, 2) Refund Schedule, and 3) Refund Type.

Refund Groups are used to define the refund policy (how much to credit and at what intervals). These policies are set for each refund type in the Refund Groups tab of Tuition and Refunds window.
Refund Schedules are attached to the course in Course Offering Maintenance. This is merely selecting the Refund Group Name for the particular course.
The refund type is associated with the student and is located in the Student Status record.

When a student drops a course, CAMS will look at the Refund Schedule linked to the course along with the Refund Type associated with the student. This combination is then matched to the same grouping that has been defined in the Refund Groups tab of the Tuition and Refunds form and will subsequently be the policy that is applied in generating appropriate refund.
