Student Thesis and Dissertations

Many programs require students to complete a thesis or dissertation in order to graduate. In this window, you are able to track the student's progress toward completing this requirement, as well as record thesis or dissertation review committee members (usually faculty). While Student Degrees may be added through the Student Admission Information window as well as through the Registration module, you can only access the Student Thesis/Dissertations tab via the Student Degrees window in the Registration module.

To Add a Thesis or Dissertation:

  1. From the CAMS Enterprise Home page, click Registration >Academic >Degrees to open the Student Degrees window, and then click the Thesis/Dissertation tab.
  2. Select the Dissertation Type (Dissertation Type glossary table).
  3. Select the Status of the dissertation or thesis (Dissertation Status glossary table).
  4. Enter the start date of the dissertation.
  5. Enter the dissertation title.
  6. If desired, enter the dates for the various steps of the dissertation process.
  7. If you wish to add the review committee members, right-click in the committee members data grid to access the member entry form, and then click the search icon to access a faculty search form.
  8. Select the Member Type (Diss. Member Type glossary table).
  9. Enter the date the member was assigned to the dissertation.
  10. Enter the Weight if desired. The weight will be calculated into the Faculty Load.
  11. Click Add to attach the member to the dissertation and return to the Thesis/Dissertation tab, or Cancel to return to the Thesis/Dissertation tab without attaching the member to the dissertation.
  12. To save the thesis or dissertation, simply click "X" to close the window, or click Cancel to exit the window without saving the information.
